Amanda Zackem is a Director, Cinematographer and Photographer originally from Buffalo, NY. She began her film and photographic training by mentorship and graduated with a Master’s degree in Illustration Photography and Multimedia from The Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.

She was Producer of the documentary The Trial of the St. Patrick’s Four (’06) and Blind Spot (’08), as well as of the dramatic feature length narrative, Thinly Veiled (‘09). Her short documentary on women’s cycling pioneer Georgena Terry has been accepted into 20 film festivals worldwide. The film won Best Female Directed Short at the Cornwall Film Festival as well as third place in the Lens Culture Magazine Multimedia Awards. Zackem also won Best Cinematography for her short experimental film, The Black Series, at the Women’s Independent Film Festival in West Hollywood.

In addition to her documentary work Zackem has also completed a variety of commercial film campaigns most recently for the Magic Hat Brewing Company, Mobius Mentoring and Hansen Advisory Services, Inc. She is currently working on a short documentary for the internationally renowned sculptor Richard Erdman. Zackem’s photographic work has been shown in both national and international magazines. Her most recent work was shown in Clam Magazine, Pas Un Autre and on Elle.com. Her work has also been displayed at Littlefield Art Space in Brooklyn, NY, where she designed a guitar as part of the Kaki King Guitar Art Project. She is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Multimedia, Photography & Design Department at Syracuse Universities Newhouse School of Public Communications.
